Easy Poutine

While I’m not from QC, every winter of my life, I spent one week there - a family tradition that precedes me by 20 years. This left me craving poutine for the remaining 51 weeks of the year! When I became a pescatarian, that wrote off poutine for me, which is traditionally made with brown gravy. Finally my cravings got too strong, and I decided to figure out how to make a vegetarian version for myself. I hope you enjoy it!

Ingredients.

1 Package of Frozen Fries (I like Idaho hand cut, but use any fries you prefer)

1 Cup of Gravy, Tofurkey has a good vegan gravy, or you could make your own even better!

1 Package of Cheddar Cheese Curds

2 Scallions, sliced

Salt to taste

Method.

Step 1.

Cook your fries to the instructions on the package - I preheat my oven with the baking tray in the oven. This makes the fries extra crispy!

Step 2.

Heat your gravy. Or make your own vegan gravy with this easy recipe! While that heats, slice your scallions if you haven’t already.

Step 3.

Once your fries are ready, season them with salt and you’re ready to built. I wasn’t kidding this is EASY!

Step 4.

Place down your fries, sprinkle your cheese curds over top, and ladle on your gravy. The gravy will begin to soak into some of the fries and melt the cheese - YUM! Then sprinkle with scallions and enjoy!!
